#PutTheNailinIt

Help End Domestic Violence for Good

Learn more about what Safe Horizon is doing to support those impacted by domestic violence & abuse by visiting this page.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime, according to the CDC. Safe Horizon is the nation’s leading victim services organization and we have been helping New Yorkers navigate their options and advocating for domestic violence survivors for more than four decades.

In 2015, we launched a social media campaign to raise awareness of this issue called #PutTheNailinIt. Supporters from several countries and from all 50 states of the United States participated. Several notable celebrities lent their voice to the campaign through the years. The idea was simple; supporters donated to Safe Horizon. Then they painted their ring finger fingernail purple, the color of the domestic violence movement, took a picture of the painted fingernail, and posted this on social media to let people know they supported Safe Horizon and domestic violence survivors.

Safe Horizon remains committed to helping survivors of domestic violence and all forms of abuse in New York City.
