If you are experiencing domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or family violence at home, you may be worried for your safety or the safety of your children. Every situation is unique, and we offer services for each survivor’s specific needs. One option that you could consider is the safety of staying in a domestic violence shelter temporarily.
What Makes Safe Horizon NYC Domestic Violence Shelters Unique
We offer eight domestic violence shelters that provide welcoming, supportive, and safe spaces to live. Our goal is to help survivors and their families get the resources to heal and thrive.
- Our domestic violence shelters are confidential, meaning they are in a hidden or secret location. No one will know you are here unless you tell them. If we are able to connect you with a safe space, the shelter will be located in an area that you identify as safe, away from where you or your children experienced abuse.
- Domestic violence shelters offer supportive services designed specifically for survivors and their children. This includes concrete needs such as childcare and economic empowerment, job placement, and housing assistance. We also provide case management, support groups, legal help and group/community activities.

How to Get into a Domestic Violence Shelter in NYC
Call our anonymous hotline at 1-800-621-HOPE (4673). We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
While we strive to give survivors the time they need to heal, room/availability in shelter can change frequently. If there is no room when you call, be sure to call back.
If there is a spot open, an advocate will coordinate a safe pick-up spot where you can meet them, and they will escort you to a shelter.
