NEW YORK (June 17, 2015) – Safe Horizon’s CEO, Ariel Zwang made the following statement on the agreement to pass the “Enough is Enough” legislation to address the high prevalence of sexual assaults on New York’s college campuses.

We applaud Governor Cuomo, Majority Leader Flanagan, and Speaker Heastie for their agreement to pass the “Enough is Enough” legislation to protect all of New York State’s college students. The passage of this legislation will go a long way in creating a safer learning environment for the 1.2 million students in New York State by giving victims more avenues to seek relief and hold abusers accountable for their crime. Sexual assault is a serious issue and we will continue to work with our state and city officials to ensure that all students in New York are able to study at their college campus of choice free of sexual violence.

Safe Horizon was at the forefront of the “Enough is Enough” campaign. Earlier this year, nearly 1, 000 people signed our petition thanking the governor for taking such a strong stand to end sexual assault on college campus. Additionally, we were featured in Governor Cuomo’s “Enough is Enough” public service announcement urging New Yorkers to help the state lead the fight against sexual violence.
