Safe Horizon seeks to maintain the confidentiality of SafeChat conversations and limits disclosure as stated in its SafeChat Privacy Policy.  However, there may be special cases where we disclose your information outside of Safe Horizon; for instance, if we fear you may do harm to yourself or others, we learn a child may be harmed or the law requires us to disclose your information.  The SafeChat service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of thirteen (13) and is not professional medical care, mental health care, or legal advice.

SafeChat Terms & Conditions of Use

SafeChat is offered by Safe Horizon, Inc. (referred to as “we,” “us, ” or “Safe Horizon”) under these Terms and Conditions of Use (referred to as this “Agreement”). This Agreement is intended to constitute a binding contract. By using SafeChat, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. Please read them carefully.

SafeChat is not intended for use by anyone under the age of thirteen (13).

Your use of SafeChat does not constitute medical or mental health advice, care, diagnosis or treatment or legal advice.  It does not constitute an attorney-client relationship, a therapist-patient relationship, or a doctor-patient relationship. This service is not a substitute for professional health care. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your doctor or 911 immediately.

Safe Horizon is committed to protecting your privacy and your personal information. By accessing or using SafeChat, you agree that Safe Horizon can use such information in accordance with Safe Horizon’s SafeChat Privacy Policy.

SafeChat is made available to you on an “as is” and “as available” basis.  Safe Horizon cannot guarantee that SafeChat will be secure or continuously available without interruption, or that the servers or electronic information shared are free of viruses or other harmful components.

Safe Horizon may, in its sole discretion, terminate conversations, block or permanently remove users, restrict the frequency of conversation, and/or terminate or suspend operation of SafeChat in its entirety.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to modify this Agreement without advance notice. Your right to access SafeChat is conditioned upon your compliance with the then-current version of this Agreement. By accessing or using SafeChat after any modifications to this Agreement have come into effect, you agree to be bound by the Agreement as modified.  Therefore, we recommend that you check this Agreement each time you access SafeChat. It is your responsibility to review this Agreement for possible modifications. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a modification to this Agreement materially affects your rights, we will attempt to notify you (for example, by posting a notice on SafeChat.) We assume no responsibility for your failure to actually receive notice.

Original material which we post on SafeChat, including text, data compilations, images, graphics, logos and the overall “look and feel” of Safe Chat, is owned or licensed by Safe Horizon, and is protected by all applicable domestic and international intellectual property laws. SAFE HORIZON, safehorizon.org and the Safe Horizon, Inc. logo are trademarks and/or service marks and the exclusive property of Safe Horizon, Inc. You are granted a limited license to access the material on SafeChat for non-commercial purposes. In addition, Safe Horizon, Inc.’s express consent is required prior to creating any hyperlink to SafeChat.

Safe Horizon respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that any content appearing on SafeChat, or on a site to which SafeChat links, is an unauthorized copy of your work in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please contact us at the address for legal notices set forth in the paragraph below.  However, Safe Horizon, Inc. does not monitor or control the content of any third-party sites linked to or from SafeChat, and therefore Safe Horizon, Inc. is not responsible for the content of any sites linked to SafeChat.
