To Jane Doe: We stand with you. What you described enduring is horrific and the fact that you had to fight to be heard is infuriating. Accountability shouldn’t be this hard.
To Cornell University: We are outraged by your response. New York passed Enough is Enough because survivors on campuses were failed over and over again by the institutions that were supposed to protect them. It is why Safe Horizon fought for this law and why we will never stop trying to change the systems that silence survivors while protecting those that cause harm.
To the members of the group chat: Looking away sends the message that rape is OK. It is not. Ask yourself what your responsibility is to Jane Doe. You have a chance to speak up now and not leave her to carry this alone. Take it.
