Peters now faces criminal charges in Massachusetts stemming from an alleged May 2025 assault involving a 17-year-old girl. The case will be decided in court. But the way Peters talks about women is already on display for anyone to see. And he is part of a much larger online culture in which putting women down can help build an audience.
“Clavicular and many other streamers have built an audience by demeaning and humiliating women, including using dehumanizing language to talk about them,” Liz Roberts, CEO of victim services organization Safe Horizon, tells Mashable.
“Misogyny is finding new audiences online, where old ideas about women, gender, and power are being repackaged as entertainment for a new generation,” she added.
