Description:Safe Horizon programs have a reception area where clients check-in and wait for assistance by a Safe Horizon staff person. Working in a program’s reception area, interns will perform administrative tasks and help to create a supportive environment by greeting and welcoming clients. Interns may interact with clients awaiting services if they have questions. An intern’s role is fluid and varies according to the immediate needs of a program. Interns should expect to assist Safe Horizon staff in varying capacities.
Responsibilities:Perform reception and administrative tasks, including:
• Intake phone screening
• Provide information and referrals to other Safe Horizon programs
• Answer phones and intercom system as needed
• Greet clients as they arrive and direct them to appropriate sign-in area


Additional Tasks (may include):
• Conduct initial client screening
• Update program resources
• Watch children while caregivers are meeting with program staff
• Distribute snacks and meals to children in waiting area
• Escort clients to other centers
• Perform other related tasks assigned by Safe Horizon staff members

Qualifications:Qualifications:


• Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW)
program;or other applicable undergraduate degree program
• Willingness to give time, interest and energy to fulfill goals of the
program
• Willingness to work in an environment where clients may be in distress
• Ability to work both independently and as part of the team
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of tasks
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with staff and
clients
• Ability to work with a diverse staff and client population
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus, but not required.
• Next 3-6 months availability
