Description:The New York State Child Advocacy Resource and Consultation Center (CARCC), a program of Safe Horizon, was established in 1996 through a grant from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. CARCC’s mission is to work with multidisciplinary teams and child advocacy centers throughout New York State to promote and enhance coordinated responses to child physical and sexual abuse and child fatality reviews, including Safe Horizon’s five Child Advocacy Centers. The Center provides technical assistance, training, and consultation to center directors and team leaders in order to facilitate communication among the teams.
Responsibilities:The Assistant Director assists the Senior Director in providing critical support services throughout NYS with an emphasis on the provision of services to downstate MDTs and CACs. This is a non-direct service role providing coordination, consultation, and administrative support to multidisciplinary team professionals in the state.

Specific Responsibilities include:
• Provide state-wide consultation and technical assistance services to OCFS, NYS MDT professionals, CACs; students and concerned citizens based on research, CARCC library resources and consultation with the Senior Director and/or other experts in the field; (tracks trends in the needs of CACs and MDTs statewide and provides consultation to teams based on the Senior Director’s guidance and own research; suggestions are made to CACs/MDTs on how to achieve standards and follow best practices and they are given the most up to date information on New York State legislation)
• Assist in the execution of contract requirements and completion of applications for various grants; develop and accomplish milestones set forth for each quarter; (completes contract applications, budget modifications, and required reports for two OCFS grants for CARCC.
• Assist in the development and management of grant budgets; (develop the budgets for two OCFS grants with the Senior Director, monitors the budget throughout the contract period)
• Provide oversight to the planning and execution of Forensic Interviewing Best Practices trainings and evaluation of the past year and planning for the new year;
• Present on Safe Horizon’s CARCC services and the history and current status of New York State and national MDTs/CACs at each downstate FIBP training;
• Arrange, attend and facilitate downstate mentoring session between established CACs and developing CACs or MDTs;
• Develop new pages and functions in addition to updating and maintaining CARCC’s website
• Supervise the CARCC Program Assistant;
• Provide oversight and management of daily operations in the Brooklyn Office monitoring program performance and directing program operations to consistently meet performance objectives;
• Assume day-to-day program operations in the absence of the Senior Director
Qualifications:• B.A. required; Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent training and experience
• 1-2 years experience writing and completing grant proposals and quarterly reports
• Familiarity with budgeting and financial accounting principles
• Experience working with state agencies and networks of public and private stakeholders;
• Experience using Macromedia Contribute and web-based website editing programs
• Knowledge of HTML and Web programming and architecture
• Proficiency managing, troubleshooting, and using Microsoft Access databases
• Proficiency with online webinar programs and coordinating trainings and information sessions remotely
• The successful candidate must be able to take initiative, work independently, demonstrate sound judgment and possess excellent inter-personal skills
• Strong organizational and writing skills required
