Description:Under direction of the Director of Development Systems & Strategy, the Development Associate manages all gift entry, notification, acknowledgment and invoice processing for private donations; assists with maintenance of the databases and assists with other administrative duties for the Development Office.

Responsibilities:• Manages all aspects of gift entry, notification, acknowledgment and invoicing for private donations, including entering and processing gifts, writing, mailing and filing of acknowledgement letters, posting gifts to finance and invoicing donors for past due pledges
• Liaises with Executive Administration and Finance to achieve above
• Manages receipt and acknowledgement of all in-kind donations by coordinating with donors and programs and liaising with Facilities to achieve deliveries
• Assists with maintaining data in the Raiser’s Edge
• Prepares reports for department as requested
• Responds to public and donor inquiries about Safe Horizon
• Assists Director of Development Systems & Strategy with preparation of mailing lists, mail appeals and revenue reports on appeals
• Assists Director of Development Systems & Strategy with vendor contracts, service purchase orders, processing payment requests, following-up with accounts payable and tracking of department expenses (includes liaising with Purchasing and Legal)
• Assists Director of Development Systems & Strategy in improving department-wide procedures and systems
• Helps train employees on proper database usage
• Provide executive assistance to the Chief Development Officer as necessary
• Participate in department-wide projects and events, as necessary
• Assist with any special initiatives as determined
• Complete other duties as assigned and appropriate


Qualifications:Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Superior verbal and interpersonal skills;
• Must possess the ability to effectively multi-task with competing priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment;
• Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills;
• Background in social or human services preferred;
• Strong writing skills;
• Detail oriented

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent relevant experience

Required Experience:

• 1 -2 years experience in Development Administration and Raiser’s Edge Database or equivalent
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience with Internet Research
