Position:SR. Case Manager, Staten Island Family Court

Description:The Staten Island Family Court Program offers short term counseling, case management and practical assistance to victims of crime. The overall goal of the unit is to reduce the impact of victimization through advocacy, counseling and other support services. The Case Manager provides case management services to victims of domestic violence and victims of juvenile crime involved in the family court system.

Responsibilities:• Provide court orientation, advocacy, accompaniment and support;
• Provide crisis intervention, emotional support and case management to victims of crime and abuse;
• Conduct on going client centered safety assessment and risk management planning;
• Provide regular follow up to victims to assist in securing all indicated services;
• Work as an advocate and liaison between the victim and other criminal justice agencies;
• Provide information and referrals and facilitate linkages for clients for services such as shelters, mental health treatment, public assistance and other entitlements based on assessment and clients’ needs;
• Attend internal and external meetings, trainings and workshops;
• Perform data entry into a computerized record keeping system and maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics;
• Various other duties to be determined by supervisor.

• Understand the dynamics of domestic violence and other forms of victimization.
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, well organized and assertive.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services related field.

• Knowledge of the Family Court and criminal justice system.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Experience working in a social service setting.
