|Description:||The Director of Individual Giving oversees, cultivates, plans, coordinates, designs and implements strategies for solicitation and stewardship of individuals making unrestricted, restricted, planned and capital gifts to Safe Horizon. This position requires a highly organized, passionate and creative individual to work directly with the Chief Development Officer, Board members, and the senior management team in creating fund-raising strategies, making effective interpersonal connections with, and developing sustainable relationships with individual prospects, donors, and other stakeholders yielding a substantial increase in the individual gifts revenue stream.|
|Responsibilities:|| Sets annual individual giving goals with the Chief Development Officer. Identifies opportunities and strategies for achieving an increased base of support. Develops cost-efficient, creative and effective ways to increase net revenue. |
Develops, implements and expands donor giving programs, including materials development, direct solicitation, and mail and online appeals to individual donors
Conducts a significant number of qualified contacts per month (1:1 meetings/exchanges) with donors or prospects to achieve annual revenue target and to establish or strengthen donor relationships for long term support.
Oversees all aspects of direct mail appeals (including online); writes and edits solicitation and stewardship materials.
Stewards Safe Horizons portfolio of individual donors with objective to effectively cultivate and solicit increased gifts and multi-year commitments from current donors
Ensures proper acknowledgement of gifts from the CEO or other appropriate individuals.
Develops annual work plan for each constituent in the portfolio, including income goals and expense budget, strategies for donor and prospect cultivations, solicitation and stewardship; creates a calendar to track ongoing progress.
Identifies donor prospects from both the Safe Horizon database and external sources; cultivates both existing and new prospects in a continuing effort to build the portfolio.
Works with Board members to cultivate prospects
Works collaboratively with the Marketing department on the look, feel, and content of appeals and cultivations.
Cultivates new and stewards existing donor relationships through community events, stakeholder conference calls, site visits, and other avenues.
Identifies and cultivates planned giving prospects
Plays a leading role with Junior Council members in cultivating and soliciting prospects and their overall annual activities.
Makes strategic recommendations for events to Director, Special Events regarding major donors, including but not limited to: invitation list, seating placement, recognition, acknowledgement and follow-up.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
|Qualifications:|| Bachelors Degree plus five years of proven non-profit fundraising/development experience with individuals and a successful track record of securing gifts |
Familiarity with all aspects of fundraising principles and practices; experience with planned giving a plus
Convey charisma, cultural sensitivity, and passion about Safe Horizon's mission
Personal gift cultivation and solicitation experience

Demonstrated success managing external vendors
