Description:The Domestic Violence Police Program is a joint program of Safe Horizon and the New York City Police Department and the New York City Housing Authority. It pairs Safe Horizon case managers and police officers to work with domestic violence victims who have made reports to the precinct. The case manager will work with two or more domestic violence officers to provide crisis intervention, concrete services, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:

Provide information, referrals, and practical assistance to clients experiencing domestic violence
Provide crisis intervention, referrals, emotional support, and practical assistance to victims of domestic violence
Work collaboratively with domestic violence officers in order to effectively provide assistance to victims
Conduct home visits with domestic violence officers to families at high risk
Collect data, track the history of violence, and prepare monthly reports
Advocate with Family and Criminal court staff for clients
Coordinate community resources for domestic violence victims
Conduct police trainings and community presentations
Attend relevant trainings, workshops and seminars
Perform other related tasks as assigned


Clear and concise verbal and written communication skill
Excellent interpersonal skills, be assertive and well organized
Demonstrate the ability to work independently
BA/ BS degree or High School Diploma and equivalent experience.
Experience working in a social services setting preferred


At least 1 year working with the program population
Basic understanding of computer and systems for managing case records
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
