Position:Development Coordinator

Description:The Development Coordinator assists in building and executing Safe Horizon’s grassroots fundraising program, developing relationships with individuals and groups within the New York City community.
Responsibilities:• Collaborates with Directors and Chief Development Officer on strategies to reach individuals and companies that can support Safe Horizon
• Stewards of community-based fundraising endeavors
• Conducts donor prospect research
• Coordinates volunteer events Collaborates with Marketing/Communications team to build awareness of grassroots fundraising program through social media channels
• Represents Safe Horizon at select community events (information fairs, fundraisers, etc.)
• Assists in cultivating potential and current individual and organization donors and/or supporters outside of the grassroots fundraising program
• Collaborates on Junior Council fundraising correspondence
• Provides logistical and other support at volunteer events as needed
• Develops, cultivates, and maintains strong professional relationships with existing and prospective donors
• Set-up meetings and tours of facilities
• Maintain contact through calls and correspondence
• Manage key dates including pledge payments, renewal requests, submission deadlines, etc…
• Send customized gift acknowledgement letters

Secondary Job Functions:

• Volunteering at Safe Horizon sponsored events
• Compile and update statistics related to selected programs
• Special assignments for Senior Management
Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent relevant experience
• 2 years non-profit fundraising experience, grassroots fundraising a plus
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing and diverse environment
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of fundraising methods, deadlines, and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising targets and deliver projects on time and within budget
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Superior editing and proofreading skills
• Self-starter with ability to manage multiple, complex tasks, and shifting priorities under tight deadlines
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and conducting web research
• Experience in donor databases, Raiser’s Edge preferred

• Requires regular travel within the five boroughs of New York City and some weekend and evening event attendance.
