Description:Under the leadership of the senior vice president of Communications and Marketing, the communications and marketing specialist executes internal communications and marketing strategies for Safe Horizon to enhance its internal communication and staff relations, and elevate its brand externally. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, have a knack for compelling storytelling and superior project management abilities.
Responsibilities:• Assists the senior vice president of Communications and Marketing in implementing Safe Horizon’s internal communications and marketing strategy.
• Collaborate with supervisor and colleagues in the development of communication and tools that inform, inspire and elevate the best practices and exceptional people at Safe Horizon.
• Manages internal communications and marketing support following a process that entails documenting requests, developing execution plans, writing and editing content for a varied host of projects not limited to the following: newsletters, events, annual reports, website, video scripts and brochures.
• Collaborates on advertising projects and campaigns including ad development and production, placements and outcomes tracking.
• Ensures compliance to Safe Horizon logo and brand guidelines for organizational materials generated for staff, donors, partners, clients and the general public.
• Assists team in the planning and staffing of events, fairs and other opportunities that are primarily of importance to Safe Horizon for communications and marketing purposes.
• Responds to general inquiries and requests for information and marketing materials from government agencies, community partners, hospitals, schools, program staff, etc.
• Provide support in maintaining project files, scheduling meetings, handling budget and invoicing, purchasing, etc.
• May oversee division interns and volunteers.

Secondary Job Functions
• Under the direction of the SVP, Communications and Marketing may assist in public awareness advertising campaigns and online initiatives. She/he may evaluate media advertising opportunities by meeting with vendors and negotiating terms, providing information and recommendations for the basis of a media plan that will be finalized by the SVP.
• This position could potentially collaborate with graphic designers for online and offline campaigns and publications, and then coordinate implementation with other team members managing our website, new media and public relations.

Qualifications:• Ability to understand a range of highly complex and controversial issues and their impact the organization’s various internal and external audiences.
• Superior ability to discern appropriate styles of communications for diverse staff audiences and external stakeholders, including specific sectors of the public.
• Strong writer in clear, concise English with faultless editing and proofreading skills in varied modes of communication.
• Fast acting thinker and writer with dead-on instincts that enable him or her to draft high quality content for immediate requests as well as those with longer leads.
• Professional, organized team player who can also work independently, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Disposition for making meaningful connections with staff across large local organization with national reputation.
• High functioning multi-tasker that can manage and resolve requests from across the organization in an organized and efficient fashion.
• Understanding of internal communications and experience in the field.
• Understanding of marketing principles and experience in the field.
• Have a team “get-it-done” attitude and enthusiasm to collaborate in department-wide projects and events, as necessary.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Required Experience:
• At least three years of experience in communications, marketing, or equivalent field preferably in the nonprofit sector.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Practioner of social media communication.
