Description:Using an intensive case management model and human rights based approach, Safe Horizon operates a comprehensive, community-focused social and legal services program for survivors of human trafficking, many of whom have experienced and witnessed physical, sexual and/or psychological abuse, survived torture and other forms of organized violence.

The Safe Horizon Anti-Trafficking Program has an immediate opening for a talented civil attorney with a demonstrated commitment to public interest practice. This new position will be at the forefront of promoting justice for survivors of human trafficking at the state and federal levels in affirmative civil litigation and policy advocacy.
Pursue affirmative civil remedies for survivors of human trafficking in state and federal court
Pursue wage and hour claims with the Department of Labor and other state and federal agencies
Engage in community education and outreach and provide support to community partners
Develop and manage relationships with pro bono partners across the country in seeking civil remedies for clients
Must have a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to New York State bar (or if admitted in another state, eligible and able to be admitted to New York State.

Demonstrated commitment and experience in public interest law and public advocacy
Experience litigating in various legal forums, including state and federal courts, oral advocacy skills, and public interest, impact, or class action litigation experience preferred. This position requires litigation skills. Applicants must have experience with discovery, including taking and defending depositions, as well as motion practice
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and ability to foster constructive, collegial working relationships with colleagues
Ability to work in and value collaborative team models
Pro bono, public service, and/or community organizing experience
Proficiency in Spanish
