Description:Streetwork Project is an innovative outreach-counseling program for homeless youth in Manhattan, which utilizes a harm reduction approach. Services include counseling, case management, peer education and outreach, drop-in center, support groups, syringe exchange, mental health services, legal and medical care. Sexual Health Education is a core component of our work. This includes an array of HIV prevention interventions, HIV rapid screening, Sexual Health Counseling & Groups, Wellness Groups and harm reduction health education services.

The Mpowerment Project is a CDC-approved community level intervention that seeks to reduce HIV infection in young men who have sex with men (YMSM). The Project mobilizes young gay/bisexual men to shape a healthy community for themselves, build positive social connections, and support their friends to have safer sex. At Streetwork, the Mpowerment Project will focus specifically on young men of color. To be successful, this intervention needs a driven, passionate, charismatic manager with experience in the LGBT community and conducting and managing large-scale interventions.

Responsibilities:> Coordinate all Mpowerment Project related groups and services program-wide
> Conduct all recruitment activities of long-term and short-term participants
> Oversee Mpowerment Project case managerˇ¦s participation and duties in the project
> Build relationships with social service providers who serve YMSM in order to facilitate collaboration in the Project
> Arrange on-site and off-site presentations of the Project as well as sexual health topics
> Co-facilitate weekly peer support groups, as well as monthly sexual health groups and other groups as needed
> Provide individual support and guidance to the Mpowerment Project members as needed for successful engagement in the intervention.
> Perform community-level outreach
> Recruit CAB members and conduct CAB meetings
> Assist peer leaders to prepare for monthly facilitation of groups
> Act as guide, leader and mentor to core group members of the Mpowerment Project
> Oversee data collection and documentation of the Mpowerment Project stats as well as preparing reports;
> Collect evaluation data and conduct Mpowerment program evaluation. Coordinate the development and dissemination of HIV prevention messages, posters, materials, and curricula related to the Mpowerment Project
> Collaborate with program leadership on all Project needs and services
> Maintain the Mpowerment Project participants charts, including all necessary documentation
> Attend and participate in program leadership meetings, staff meetings, supervisions, trainings, and conferences
> Conduct trainings and orientations related to HIV/AIDS for all program staff as needed
> Perform other related tasks

Secondary Job Functions:

> Participate at staff trainings, staff meetings, and staff group process workshops
> Participate in weekly supervision

> Streetwork Uptown and LES drop-in center staff
> Communicate monthly with Overnight staff
> Community groups and other social service providers
Qualifications:Required skills:

> Knowledge of and experience with HIV prevention interventions, harm reduction, HIV/AIDS and STIs, youth development, and program evaluation
> Experience with LGBTQ (specifically YMSM), homeless and street-involved youth populations
> Group work experience
> Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills

Qualifications:

> Bachelorˇ¦s Degree
> 3-5 years relevant work experience required or 3 years high-quality work demonstrated at Streetwork Project
> Spanish-speaker preferred
