Description:Reporting to the Chief Development Officer the Director of Development Systems and Strategy is an integral member of the Development team, responsible for the creation of systems, standards, tools, resources and protocols which will support the development staff in their work. Duties include: developing and implementing a donor database strategy for direct mail and online giving platforms and across all revenue streams; oversight of Raiser’s Edge to ensure optimal use of the database as a tool for relationship management and fundraising, data analysis and revenue reporting; oversight of Moves Management system implementation and execution for individual, corporate and foundation donors; and weekly, monthly and annual revenue reporting and reconciliation.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:

• Creation and implementation of overall fundraising program designed to increase the number and dollar amount of individual gifts (under $1,000) to Safe Horizon by developing creative strategies for list segmentation plans and acquisition (for in-house appeals, direct mail, and for e-appeals) including the preparation of mailing lists, mail appeals and revenue reports on appeals, campaigns and funds.
• Creation, implementation and oversight of Moves Management system within Raisers Edge for all individual, corporate, foundation and government constituents.
• In collaboration with the CDO and senior Development team members, strategizing the creation and execution of a plan for prospect identification on current database constituents for mid and high-level gift cultivation and solicitation.
• Implementation of Events Module and other modules as deemed necessary to add efficiency in gift entry, tracking and reporting.
• Revenue reporting and liaising on reconciliation with Finance.
• Oversight of gift processing and acknowledgment , ensuring proper PCI compliant credit card processing and reconciliation.
• Streamlining acknowledgment and other business processes to ensure appropriate donor relations and retention.
• Serves as lead relationship manager on behalf of the Development department for development systems vendor partners including Blackbaud, Target Analytics, printers, mailhouses and online giving portal provider.
• Supervision of Development Associate and Donor Communications Associate.
• Assessing and projecting Raiser’s Edge needs.
• Developing and enforcing donor relations/database policies and procedures.
• Upgrading the database as needed, maintaining overall health of the database.
• Providing staff training and database assistance to end users.
• Cleaning data through queries and global changes.
• Overseeing database integrations (e.g. to the website/online giving platforms).
• Overseeing the receipt and acknowledgement of all in-kind donations by coordinating with donors and programs and liaising with Facilities to achieve deliveries.
• Participating in department-wide projects and events, as necessary.
• Complete other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Qualifications:Required Education

BA/BS degree

Required Experience:

• 10 years experience in database management with at least 5 years experience with Raiser’s Edge;
• 5 + years experience in managing and creating budgets;
• 5+ years experience in integration of donor relationship systems;
• 5 + years experience with direct marketing channels including direct mail acquisition and renewal and online giving;
• 1+ year experience supervision of staff
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with Internet Research
