Description:Safe Horizon operates three 24/7 Hotlines from a confidential location for victims of crime and abuse - including victims of crime, rape and sexual assault and domestic violence victims. The Hotlines center is located in Brooklyn.
Responsibilities:The volunteer's role is to help with administrative tasks. The Volunteer will NOT be answering Hotline calls.. The primary function of the volunteer is to work on the updating the referral database in Excel, contacting referral sources as needed and/or doing Internet searches. The volunteer may also perform the following • Perform administrative tasks, including: • Data entry, photocopying and filing • Online research • Update program resources • Perform other related tasks assigned by Safe Horizon staff members
Qualifications:• Willingness to give time, interest and energy to fulfill goals of the program • Willingness to work in an environment where staff members are working on the phones with clients in distress • Ability to work both independently and as part of the team • Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of tasks • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with staff • Ability to work with a diverse staff and client population • Knowledge of Microsoft Office - strong Excel skills This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
