Meet Our Volunteer:

Volunteers at Safe Horizon play a tremendous role in helping us provide support and services to children, adults, families, and communities affected by violence and abuse. What are their reasons for supporting our mission? Read below for just a few of those reasons.

Uploaded Image: /uploads/images/Roseann_Volunteer.jpg"I am proud to be a volunteer for such a great organization.  After witnessing the good that Safe Horizon does, I have all the motivation in the world to keep serving these clients: seeing them smile makes me smile.

If you are still on the fence, VOLUNTEER, it is an incredibly rewarding experience. The staff is GREAT. The children & families need to know that there are folks out there that care about them and that are willing to give their time in any capacity to help. -- Roseann Carrara, volunteer at the Staten Island Child Advocacy Center for 10 years

"Violence and abuse can happen to anyone of any race, level of education, or financial condition. Violence and abuse have the potential to destroy lives. Yet there is hope. There is a place like Safe Horizon, which provides help so victims can break the cycle of abuse and violence and achieve safety. For me, that is what Safe Horizon is all about, and this is why I volunteer and support Safe Horizon." –- Steve McCandless, Board Member and volunteer with Community Programs

"As a volunteer at Safe Horizon I can support women to empower themselves to find safety and solace in their lives." -- LaShon Stockton, Snapple’s "Best People in NYC" Award Winner 2007
