Safe Horizon's innovative SafeWork education and training sessions provide both a unique, firsthand understanding of domestic violence and the practical tools needed to begin to recognize and respond to the issue in the workplace.
The centerpiece of the training, (Un)Safe, is a compelling portrayal that brings to life the impact domestic violence has on a corporate executive, her children, her colleagues, and her corporation.
Directly following (Un)Safe is a workshop facilitated by Safe Horizon, during which participants learn about domestic violence and its impact on employees, how to recognize its signs in the workplace, and how to respond appropriately and sensitively. Since October 2005, SafeWork has provided innovative education and training to hundreds of executives at more than 120 companies, including Altria, Gap Inc., Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, Verizon Wireless and USI.
According to pre- and post-training attendee surveys, SafeWork's innovative education and trainings have made an impact:
- 87% of participants felt strongly that SafeWork helped them understand the issue of domestic violence in the workplace.
- 80% said that SafeWork helped them to recognize the impact on their company.
- 83% believe that SafeWork gave them the tools and confidence to champion this issue in their company.
SafeWork education and training sessions can be tailored for various corporate audiences – human resources and front-line staff, legal counsel, senior executives, or security personnel – and is available in both half- and full-day training formats.
