In our own words: No laughing matter raised $400,000 and drew a sold-out crowd of more than 400 on Thursday, November 10, 2005 to support Safe Horizon’s work for New York’s victims of violence. Held at B.B. King Bar and Grill, the event offered a night of comedy not just for laughs with stand-up performances by Nick DiPaolo, Adam Ferrara, Lynne Koplitz, Colin Quinn, Sherrod Small, Wanda Sykes and Rich Vos.

After cocktails and dinner, guests watched clips comedians who, through their humor, confront the issue of violence. Chris Rock highlighted Safe Horizon’s mission to address these issues in his video introduction, before opening the floor to the evening’s hilarious host, Rich Vos.

Next up were the bidding wars for our six live auction items - offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences and star-studded items. Our auctioneer was Denise Richardson, host of Channel 13’s annual fund drive. Together, our live and silent auction raised almost $40,000.
