Senator Schumer is joined by victims and victims’ rights advocates in New York City to announce the passing of the Senate vote to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act.
Safe Horizon's Chief Program Officer Liz Roberts, Brooklyn Community Program Director Kimmi Herring, and Senior Policy Advisor Paula Calby supported Senator Schumer on Sunday at a press conference which announced the Senate’s passing of the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.
The 68-31 vote marked the first time since the Violence Against Women Act was passed in 1994 and preludes the next battle in what many frame as a Republican “war on women.”
