Safe Horizon Supports Recommendation to Expel Senator Hiram Monserrate from the State Senate

Statement from Safe Horizon:
Safe Horizon strongly supports the New York State Senate’s Select Committee’s recommendation to expel Senator Hiram Monserrate from the legislature. Domestic violence is a serious crime and its perpetrators have no place in an institution charged with making and enacting laws. Senator Monserrate’s stubborn refusal to cooperate with the Select Committee’s investigation only amplifies his contempt for the State Senate and the 19 million New Yorkers it represents.
We call on the full State Senate to send a strong message to all New Yorkers that domestic violence will not be tolerated, and urge lawmakers to expel Senator Monserrate as soon as possible.
