Hope on the Horizon 2012: Review
Hope on the Horizon 2012: Light the Way

More than 250 people joined Safe Horizon for our 2012 Hope on the Horizon breakfast event, taking place on Thursday, December 6, 2012. Guests were given the chance to meet and hear from our CEO, board chair, staff, and supporters who make a difference in the lives of children, adults, and families affected by violence and abuse.
Supporter Aaron Spivey opened the event with a live singing performance for guests. Miss New York 2012, Mallory Hagan, welcomed guests to the 2012 breakfast, introducing the organization and highlighting her support of Safe Horizon’s efforts to help and heal child victims of abuse. Guests also had the chance to meet and hear from our CEO Ariel Zwang, board chair Steve Parrish, as well as staff who discussed the impact of Hurricane Sandy on those already affected by tragedies created by violence and abuse.
Guests also had the chance to enjoy our video presentation that highlighted our work during Hurricane Sandy and how Safe Horizon’s staff ensured that victims could still access the critical support they needed during a time of natural disaster. Staff member Sidonie Scotchman offered a testimonial about helping residents at one of our domestic violence shelters during the hurricane, while another staff member, Megan Vizina, spoke about giving a homeless young teen the chance to feel safe in his “home” – Safe Horizon’s Streetwork youth residence.
The Hope on the Horizon breakfast is a chance to learn about Safe Horizon’s efforts to help victims of crime and abuse and their families. We thank everyone who was able to attend and those who made the commitment to support Safe Horizon's programs during the event!
