Champion 2013 Honorees
William Gay is a professional football player in the National Football League. He is from Tallahassee, Florida and attended the University of Louisville. Most recently he resigned with the Pittsburgh Steelers after joining the Arizona Cardinals for the 2012 season and started in all 16 games in 2012. Mr. Gay was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2007 NFL Draft where he appeared in all 16 games during each of his five seasons, with 34 starts. He also appeared in eight postseason contests (three starts), including trips to Super Bowls XLIII and XLV. His previous experience with domestic violence in his own home as a child, has lead him to actively support domestic violence prevention efforts, including work with the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and speaks nationally about his experience to help raise awareness.
Global Head of Prime Services
Paul Germain is a Managing Director at Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in New York. He is Global Head of Prime Services and a member of the Global Equity Management Committee.
Mr. Germain joined Credit Suisse in April 2010 to lead the Prime Services distribution strategy across Prime Brokerage, Delta One, and Futures. Before joining Credit Suisse, he was a Partner and Co-Head of the US Client Franchise in Prime Brokerage at Goldman Sachs. Prior to that, he was Co-Head of the Global Institutional effort and Chief of Staff for the Head of US Equity.
Mr. Germain earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Paul lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife, Jennifer and three children, Sophie, Eli and Charlie.
Michael C. Slocum

As President of Capital One’s Commercial Banking business, Mr. Slocum is responsible for leading multiple broad lines of business, including Commercial Real Estate, Middle Market Banking, Commercial & Specialty Finance, Private Banking, Wealth and Asset Management, and Treasury Services. Mr. Slocum reports to Rich Fairbank, Capital One’s Chairman and CEO. Mr. Slocum is a member of Capital One’s Executive Committee and also serves as the company's Northeast Regional President.
Comprised of more than 2,000 associates, Capital One's Commercial Banking Group generates over $2 billion in annual revenue with more than $50 billion in loan commitments and $30 billion in deposit balances. Mr. Slocum joined Capital One in 2007 after having spent almost two decades at Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) and predecessor banks. His experience spans both Commercial and Retail Banking.
Mr. Slocum is an active member of the community and is currently on the Board and is an Executive Committee member of Safe Horizon, the largest victims’ services agency in the United States. He also serves on the boards of Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., New York City Investment Fund and The Jewish Museum in New York City.
Mr. Slocum resides in New York City and is a graduate of Colgate University with a degree in Economics.
